Erdem x H&M: Collection Favourites

Every year, with much anticipation, H&M collaborates with high fashion designers to create a limited edition collection sold at a fraction of the price. This year is no different with the Erdem x H&M collection with London Fashion Week favourite Erdem Moralioglu. You may recall the mayhem that ensued with the Balmain x H&M collection which sold out within minutes. This year I can expect the same, with people lining up the night before and website crashes for those buying online.

What’s so special about this collection? It has something for everyone. Feminine dresses rich in florals, ruffles and lace but also edgier accessories and commercial sweatshirts and tees. Erdem Moralioglu’s pieces are timeless and are meant to be treasured much like the campaign video where spring is eternal.

Firstly, let’s admire the amazingly stylized video, “The Secret Life of Flowers” by Baz Luhrmann.

If the video doesn’t have you rushing to get your hands on this collection, these up-close visuals will. I’m someone who likes to feel the item and hold it up against myself before making a firm decision. So, fingers crossed, if I make it into the store on launch day this is what I would buy.

Floral Slip-Ons

Living in downtown Toronto and walking almost everywhere I’ve found owning a few pairs of trendy sneakers or slip-ons is a great investment. These one’s add visual interest to an outfit and don’t look casual. The rich floral embroidery is synonymous with the entire Erdem x H&M collection, which is great if you want subtly incorporate something from this collection to your closet.

Burgundy Leather Purse

I love the unique shape of this leather purse. The clasp reminds me of my grandmother’s purses which gives it a vintage feel. Overall the dark red tone and gold hardware make it a classy piece to be worn as a clutch or on the shoulder.

Black Kitten Heels

For special occasions, I’m drooling over these kitten heel pointed pumps.  Worn by a number of celebrities at the LA launch party these heels are sure to sell out in seconds. I absolutely love everything about these shoes, from the small heel to the floral embellishments to the thin straps around the ankle. Worn with a cuffed pair of boyfriend jeans and a crisp white tee – girl, you are going places!

Bow Earrings

Lastly, are these crystal encrusted bow earrings, worn by all the actresses in the fashion video. This is the impulse buy you’re bound to pop into your shopper. If I’d seen these on the rack in the store I probably wouldn’t reach for them but when shown in this surreal video, I can’t help myself.
