Poppy Barley Comes To Toronto

Poppy Barley PopUp Toronto

I may be alone in this but I prefer shopping in person. Don’t come at me!

I struggle with finding the right size (especially in shoes) or the image looks quite different from the product. That’s why when an online brand or one located in another city, like Poppy Barley, decides to have a pop-up in my city. I don’t think twice.

Poppy Barley is popping up in Toronto this week. They host pop-ups at least twice a year in multiple cities which makes shopping so much easier. You can see and try all the new pieces just like a real store. But what’s better than a real store, you don’t have to lug your purchases around. They will ship them to you!

In 2012, sisters Justine and Kendall Barber launched this Edmonton-based footwear brand because there was a need for luxury shoes in a wider size range that were sustainably made. This B-Corp company has since then grown to offer so many amazing products designed right here in Canada and made ethically in factories in Mexico and Spain. You can learn more about the brand from my chat with co-founder Kendall Barber.

I own numerous pairs of their shoes and a few bags and I can honestly say the quality and comfort are unmatched. Their EverEase line is my favourite because the shoes don’t require any breaking in. I would recommend the Eyelet Oxfords if you too want to “enjoy” wearing shoes.

Most Fun Shoe

I love the shape of the Elevate Mule. It is really flattering, even if you have wide feet like me. I think the Spotted Calf Hair adds the perfect amount of fun and texture. I would wear these mules with a classic Canadian tuxedo – blue jeans and a blue denim jacket.

If you like this pattern and style but can’t wear heels, it also comes in flats!

Most Practical Bag

I’m really not a big bag person but this one stole my heart! The shape is everything. And if I’m going to go big bag it better have structure. The Poppy Barley Fold Top Bucket Bag is the best update to the bucket bag shape. Happy to have this piece in my closet because this particular colour is sold out so quickly!

Some other pieces of interest in the Poppy Barley summer collection are The Slouchy Crossbody Bags and the Two Step Slides.
