Trendy Canadian Made Jewelry Under $50

Canadian Made Foxy Originals Jewelry

I don’t know about you, but I’m always on the hunt for unique and affordable jewelry. Sure, there’s a huge selection at high street stores but they’re not locally made. I love supporting Canadian brands (especially female entrepreneurs) because they have a story to tell and their quality is far better than the former. I was introduced to Foxy Originals, a trendy Canadian made jewelry brand, when I saw a few of their pieces at Indigo.

Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting the lovely women behind this fun brand – Suzie Chemel and Jennifer Ger. The met truly by chance. Both attended the University of Western Ontario and were introduced by a mutual friend on their journey back home. They instantly connected over their shared passion and knew they had to start something. Well that, and Jennifer couldn’t stop eyeing Suzie’s necklace which was the latest thing off the runways of Paris.

While in university, they sold their handmade jewelry to independent boutiques in the area. Whatever Jen and Suzie saved was put towards exhibiting at festivals and events in Ontario over the summer. Foxy Originals really took off in the summer of 2006. “We found out Paris Hilton was going to be in Toronto, and we had a friend working in the green room at MuchMusic give her a package, not knowing if she’d ever get it,” says Suzie. Paris Hilton not only wore their earrings but got photographed for In Touch magazine. What a breakthrough!

Since its official launch in 2003, the Foxy gals have been making waves. Their iconic Coca Earrings were favoured by Oprah and their pieces have been spotted on a number of strong female celebrities. I like their trendy Canadian made jewelry because it’s easy to pair with any outfit.

A number of pieces from the Fall/ Winter 2017 collection are worth mentioning, as well as some of their previous designs.

Cirque Convertible Necklace by Foxy Originals - a Canadian designer jewellery brand
The most expensive piece at $50 but you do get 3 necklaces.

Their newest and bestselling piece of the season is the Cirque Convertible Necklace. I love that it’s pre-layered so you don’t have to decide what to mix and match on any given morning. Each necklace has its own clasps so you can choose to layer two at a time or just wear one as well, “the limit does not exist”. It’s made from lead-free pewter and plated in 14 karat gold.

Rectangle charm necklace in silver by Foxy Originals - a Canadian designer jewellery brand

The Harmony Collection is great for geometric lovers, myself included. It features five necklaces each with a different shape – circle, triangle, rectangle, diamond or hexagon. I chose to order the rectangle-shaped necklace. The small charm sits perfectly on my neck to define my collarbone. I ordered this necklace in silver finish because I’ve been looking for an everyday necklace that wasn’t gold in colour.

Olympia earrings by Foxy Originals - a Canadian designer jewellery brand
How gorgeous are these?! And only $24

I was skeptical about ordering the Olympia Earrings because I don’t like coloured gemstones however on arrival, they did not disappoint. You can wear them simply as triangular studs or amp up the glam by adding the back piece to create ear jackets. A lot of the Foxy jewelry is 2-in-1 which is great if you’re unsure about your first order.

Pablo Necklace by Foxy Originals - a Canadian designer jewellery brand

If you’re searching for something a little more playful, I would suggest the Mod Pop Collection or the Printed Pendants. These collections take inspiration from artists and design styles of different periods to create colourful pendants. Once again the geometric design of the Pablo Necklace caught my eye. I can see myself reaching for this during the spring and summer months. Pair it with the Lux Earrings and you’re ready to hit the town.

Lux earrings by Foxy Originals - a Canadian designer jewellery brand

I love the Foxy gals for their dedication to researching the latest trends so you, the customer, always look your best. They actively participate in trade shows and local events like the One of a Kind show to meet and interact with their fans. This way they get direct feedback on their designer jewelry and can greatly improve their products to keep you happy.

Their fantastic price point and unique designs are sure to make their jewelry part of everyone’s holiday wish list. Keep a lookout for Foxy Originals’ holiday party in the first week of December for pieces starting at $5!
